My weekly diary to record how I’m doing on my Do Less and Stay Calm goals for 2015. A way of keeping myself accountable.
One thing at a time
Fantastic revelation – don’t laugh – life is so much easier if you just do one thing at a time.
I’m trying very hard to remember just to do one thing, start it, do it, stop it and then start something else.
The days of hanging up the washing whilst on a work phone call are over, I tell you!
Also, when faced with too much stuff needing done all at once – whilst assorted children need your help right now…. if I just look hard enough, there’s usually one thing that needs doing most. I say to myself:
Where is the need?
And then do that one thing.
This is so not how I’ve lived my life for the past 51 years… self-development never ends.
Of course, we fight perfection tooth and nail
So yesterday I really made myself laugh. I went to the Problogger Sydney half day event and at one stage was talking to someone whilst texting my son whilst sending an email to someone else and thinking that I really must make a call before the Olympus workshop started.
Better Call Saul
However, in the evening… Teen 15 and I watched Better Call Saul and I didn’t pick up my phone once… unlike himself who was Snapchatting away. I asked him if he’d show me how to use it but he said:
‘It’s not for old people, Mum.’
So that shut me up.
March goals one week in
They’re killing me! My goal of more More Exercise and Less Alcohol in March (no drinking alcohol at all at home when husband is away) has thrown up some shocking cravings.
My biggest boy just turned 18 but I’m resisting drinking with him now he’s legal – that wouldn’t be very responsible!
The exercise re-start is also killing me. Man using heavy weights is hard and leaves me a bit sore. It’s an effort of will to make myself get up and go and do it. But paying fhelps, I’m too mean to pay and not go and just f*!$king do it.
But the swimming is going well, the ocean is positively warm, I am telling you.
If you fancy a swim at Manly at 7am this Sunday, shoot me and email and let’s meet up and do it together.
Take it easy
